GEORGETOWN, COLORADO
We were excited to join Jordan and Alexa for their amazing Guanella Pass engagement photos during peak wildflower season in the summer. We knew that the views (and flowers) would make for a stunning backdrop for engagement photography, but somehow it was more beautiful in person than we imagined.
We started the session by exploring an area close to South Clear Creek in a dense patch of yellow flowers blooming alongside the river. It is always a special honor to photograph someone we know – in this case, Autumn used to work with Jordan at Microsoft a few years back. It was really nice to catch up with Jordan and Alexa to hear more about what they had been up to over the past few years, as well as their plans for the future.
It was a hot summer afternoon and the thought of dipping our feet into the cool stream appealed to all of us. It didn’t take much convincing for Autumn to step into the water, while Jordan and Alexa followed soon after. Although the water was refreshing at first, it quickly turned from feel-good relief into an achy, numbing cold pain as we carefully navigated the slippery, sharp rocks. It was a fun little ice-breaking detour that had us on our toes! Jordan even spotted a unique portrait spot along a pair of downed trees that had fallen over the river. We’re always happy to entertain any creative ideas that couples want to pursue! After soaking up some good water fun, we made our way up to the Guanella Pass Summit.
Temperatures were nearly perfect and the clouds gave way to some beautiful afternoon golden light. These two popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate their engagement as we traversed the fields of wildflowers. Every way you looked was jaw-droppingly beautiful, so we were lucky these two were patient with us as we explored! Check out some of our favorite images from their summer engagement photos!
