Newly engaged couple kisses in the water at sunset at McIntosh Lake in Longmont

Longmont Engagement at Golden Ponds

In August, we met up with Emma and Tyler at Golden Ponds for their Longmont engagement photos. Stormy weather had us second-guessing the timing of their session all afternoon, but we lucked out with warm weather and soft, cloudy evening light, giving us a relaxed start to the shoot. We wandered around Golden Ponds, stopping here and there to capture some candid moments as they enjoyed each other’s company and the scenery. Our first location was the waterfall in St. Vrain Creek, and they didn’t hesitate to traverse the rocks while we navigated the water for these Longmont engagement photos.

We loved that Emma and Tyler chose Golden Ponds for their Longmont engagement photos because it holds special meaning for them. It’s a place where they’ve spent many evenings together—Tyler often fishing while Emma relaxes nearby in her hammock by the water. The connection they have with the location made their Longmont engagement photos feel even more personal, and it was easy to capture their natural moments in a spot that already feels like home to them. Having their Longmont engagement photos in a place they love added a layer of authenticity to the day, making the photos even more meaningful.

Later, we headed over to McIntosh Lake to catch the sunset and add variety to their Longmont engagement photos. As the light faded, they decided to step into the water, playing around a bit as the last bit of sunlight reflected off the lake. The timing worked out perfectly as the sky started to change from golden into softer colors of pink and blue. Emma and Tyler popped open a bottle of champagne, sharing a toast as the sun dropped beneath the horizon.

It was a fun way to wrap up their Longmont engagement photos—nothing too staged, just two people enjoying each other’s company on a summer evening by the water. The whole session felt like an easy evening spent together. We loved getting to know these two better and can’t wait to celebrate them for their May wedding at The Landing at Estes Park!
