ALDERFER / THREE-SISTERS PARK
Allison and Bruce decided they wanted to have a private ceremony for their Evergreen elopement, in addition to their wedding celebration at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Denver. We thought this was a great idea to have the best of both worlds: the private intimacy of a personal ceremony as well as the fun that comes with a big celebration. They planned to elope on Groundhog Day at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park. It was unseasonably warm for February and we don’t think they could have asked for more beautiful weather. In fact, they really lucked out because a snowstorm followed literally the next day. That’s Colorado for ya!
Bruce took off with Griffin to get ready for the first look while Autumn helped Allison get into her gown. When she was ready, Allison walked across the open field toward Bruce, beaming with excitement. They shared an intimate and emotional moment together by the barn before we took off toward the opposite end of the park. Allison and Bruce walked hand-in-hand and were all smiles. This day was only about the two of them and they couldn’t be more excited about it.
Allison led the way as we ventured into the woods, looking for the best spot for them to exchange their vows for their Evergreen elopement. They settled on a scenic setting in the woods surrounded by towering evergreens in front of large boulders. The excitement was mounting as they stood close together and pulled out their vows. Allison went first, speaking in nearly a whisper. Occasionally a bird would chirp and the leaves would rustle as the wind blew through, but other than that the world around them was silent. They reached for their rings and slid them on each other’s finger and with that, they both cheered, completely elated!
After their ceremony, we wandered nearby taking portraits in the woods as beautiful golden light shined through the trees, giving a soft warm glow to the forest around them. I don’t think we can overstate how much fun Allison and Bruce are to be around. They’re always so happy to be in each other’s presence and their energy is contagious. The two of them walked through a field of golden grass, illuminated by the sun, as they made their way back to the parking lot.
Back at their car they had a mini newlywed picnic planned for this special Evergreen elopement! They cheered to this new chapter with some whiskey and fed each other a cupcake while a “Just Married” banner hung above in their backseat. They sat in the trunk of their car, sipping whiskey and enjoying the last bits of a beautiful day as the sun slipped below the treeline. Last but not least, they signed their marriage license in the proud presence of their stuffed groundhog, George.
Congratulations to you both!
